Finished the rear bumper today. Just waiting for paint to dry overnight before I weld it on. No tire carrier. I think I am going to rig something up in the hitch to carry one for long trips instead of having it on all the time.
Then we went out and tested the flex to see what needed to be trimmed, and what needed to be bump stopped.

Well, I drove it all the way to Buena Vista this morning towing the camper. All I can say is that I love this rig. The Supercharger ROCKS when towing. IMO it does better than my old silver 2000' with only 33s and the same gears.
One thing I did realize when climbing I-70 to the 470 turnoff is that I need to keep it out of OD when the tranny temps start to creep up. The tranny hit 215* at the top, and it was NOT a steep pull. Just a consistent grade where the tranny was in OD, but the Torque convertor was unlocked. But, once I started leaving the OD off and kept the torque convertor from unlocking, it never got higher than 190* even on the Kenosha Pass pull and the pull from Littleton up to Conifer.
In fact, most of the time it was running around 170* even on the big pulls in 3rd.
Top of Kenosha Pass looking down on South Park. Yes, that South Park.

Holy Cross went well yesterday. A few minor kinks to work out, but all-in-all it was a very good run. Rig worked great.

So, I was able to get a few of the little things taken care of on the rig that I wanted to fix before its wheeled again.
First thing is that the rear coils were walking around too much without having a centering ring. So, I added one.

Then, when the rear coils would re-seat, they would bang and pop into place. The fix was to drill out the original bump stop cone and bolt it to the upper spring mount. This will guide the coil back into place.

While reinstalling it all I used a 25mm (7/8" spacer) to get me a little more ride height in the rear. Frame height is now at 23" even and rig sits level. No more bottoming out either.
